A drug dealer on the West Shore is facing multiple convictions and more than five years in jail, according to RCMP.
Between December 2020 and June 2022, Paulo Murphy-O’Neill was arrested and charged five times for allegedly trafficking drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine and powder and crack cocaine, police said.
On Dec. 6, Murphy-O’Neill, currently incarcerated, was convicted of five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and sentenced to five-and-a-half years in jail, to be served concurrently, West Shore RCMP said.
He’s also been handed a mandatory lifetime prohibition from possessing any firearm, restricted weapon, ammunition or explosive substance.
“This sentence is the direct result of a thorough and complex investigation conducted by West Shore RCMP officers,” said Stephen Rose, inspector in charge of operations at West Shore RCMP, in a release.
“Officers from general duty, the Crime Reduction Unit as well as the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit collaborated to disrupt drug trafficking in the West Shore and to remove this drug dealer from the community,” added Rose.
