A popular trail in North Saanich has reopened to the public.

The District of North Saanich says the north section of Scoter Trail from Munro Road to the Tseycum First Nation lands is now open to the public following restoration work.

Upgrades included “preserving” the natural shoreline, restoration of the trail, and the installation of a pebble beach — which the district says will make the trail walkable at all tides.

Benches and a seating area have also been installed on the trail.

“The improvements also enhance the natural shoreline by allowing logs to wash onto the beach and plants to establish,” the district said in a press release.

North Saanich budgeted $1.5 million for the upgrade improvements and says the project came on time and under budget.

Scoter Trail is located west of the Victoria International Airport and runs alongside the Saanich Inlet.
