The Victoria Police Department had a successful day in terms of the number of arrests after launching a warrant enforcement project around the community on Wednesday.

The joint project – carried out by Patrol’s A-Watch and the Community Services Division (CSD) – focused on locating and arresting individuals wanted on warrants in Victoria and Esquimalt.

The warrant enforcement initiative, deployed over the course of one day on January 27, led to the arrests of 23 men and women who were wanted for a variety of offences.

Victoria Police say some of the offences targeted during yesterday’s arrests included mischief, driving while prohibited, breach of probation, break and enter, assault, and sexual interference involving a youth.

Two of the men arrested by Victoria Police during the project were federal offenders, both wanted on Canada-wide warrants.

The two men – Daniel Reber and Johnathan Muzychka – marked the beginning of the warrant enforcement project after VicPD officers received an alert from a member of the public.

Police say that Reber and Muzychka were arrested near Pandora Avenue and Vancouver Street without incident.

“Officers are thanking the public for the information which led to these arrests, and we encourage our community to reach out to us with information about wanted persons,” reads a statement from Victoria Police.

The official VicPD Twitter account spent the duration of the project posting updates as arrests were made.

Project updates of the arrests can be found by exploring the hashtag #VicPDWarrantWednesday.
