B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix will be the recipient of thousands of postcards delivered by nurses in the province with a violence prevention message.

The delegation will bring the postcards to the steps of the legislature at noon Thursday to say “violence is not part of the job”.

In a Facebook post Oct. 10, the BC Nurses Union said violence in health care has “steadily increased”, which it says has impacted the safety of nurses and patients.

The union says it wants to see the provincial government honour a pre-election pledge to create a safer workplace for nurses and provide more security.

Nurses around the province have gathered postcards that have been signed by members of the public and addressed to the health minister.
