No one was hurt after a small plane crash-landed at the Victoria airport early Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses told CHEK that at around 12:03 p.m. a single-engine plane landed on its belly at Victoria International Airport after circling around in the sky a few times.

Witnesses said the plane’s landing gear would not come down.

There were no injuries and the plane has since been removed.

CHEK has since learned that the aircraft was a Nanchang CJ-6.

According to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum‘s website, the CJ-6 was mainly produced as a warplane for the Chinese military throughout the 1960s.

However, a non-military variant was also produced that was popular for crop dusting purposes. The museum says a total of 10,600 planes have been built, with production continuing as late as 2007, and that around 200 are in the hands of private owners.

More to come.
