Victoria Royals light up the scoreboard on annual Teddy Bear Toss night

CHEK

The Victoria Royals put on a franchise record show for the annual Teddy Bear Toss at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre Friday night.

To mark CHEK night, our Stacy Ross sang O Canada before the game against the Kootenay Ice and CHEK staff were on hand to greet fans.

It didn’t take long for the stuffed animals to rain onto the ice.

Royals centre Eric Florchuk made the fur fly for the second straight year, scoring at 5:17 of the first period.

The toss was such a success, it took ten minutes for rink staff to collect all the stuffed animals.

They’ll be given to local charities including the Salvation Army, the Mustard Seed and Craigflower Elementary School.

This is the seventh year for the event and CHEK is always proud to take part.

The Royals beat Kootenay 10-3 setting a new franchise record for goals scored in a single game.
