Victoria Police seeking public's help in attempted robbery investigation

Victoria Police is seeking the public’s assistance following an attempted robbery in Victoria last week.

The incident took place at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19. Police say that a woman was walking in the 2000-block of Douglas Street when she was approached by an unknown man.

When recounting the incident to police the woman said the next thing she remembered was lying on the ground while the man attempted to steal the woman’s purse.

The victim screamed, which lead to the suspect fleeing on foot without taking her purse.

Police say that the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries from the physical encounter.

The suspect in this incident, however, remains outstanding.

Police are describing the man as between the ages of 30 and 50 years old, standing at approximately 5’8″ with a very slim build. The suspect had dark brown and grey hair and wore a dark green hooded sweater with the hood up and blue jeans at the time of the incident.

The file of this attempted robbery currently remains under investigation.
