Police in Victoria are on the hunt for a 34-year-old man who they say committed multiple sexual assaults and then failed to show up for court.
In a news release issued by the Victoria Police Department, Hamada Hussein Yiyia, 34, was arrested by officers in the 1100-block of Douglas Street on June 25 after they allegedly witnessed him approach a group of women and sexually assault them from behind.
Officers had been called to the area for reports of a man pushing and sexually assaulting people in the area, the release notes.
According to the release, while officers were speaking with women whom the man attacked, a woman and a female youth came up to them and reported that the same man had sexually assaulted them as well.
None of the women who spoke with officers required medical attention, but one was struck with enough force to knock her to the ground, the release states.
After his arrest, Hussein Yiyia was transported to VicPD cells, where he was held for court and later released pending trial, which he failed to attend.
Late last month, a B.C-wide warrant was issued for Hussein Yiyia, according to publicly available records on BC Court Services.
Victoria Police are now asking anyone who spots Hussein Yiyia to call 911 immediately.
Hussein Yiyia is described as 5’10, with a medium build and black hair that is longer on the top and short on the sides and back.
