The Victoria Police Department spent Monday patrolling for traffic violations and issued multiple tickets for distracted driving.
In a message sent out on social media, patrol officers indicated they issued 23 tickets for distracted driving on January 11.
The violations, issued by patrol’s A-Watch, occurred in the City of Victoria and Esquimalt.
Earlier on Monday, Victoria police sent out a cautionary message that suggested officers would be keeping an eye out, specifically for distracted driving.

“Keep your hands on the wheel & eyes on the road.”
Also on Monday, in the neighbouring District of Saanich, police were out watching for speeders.
According to Saanich Police, one driver was clocked travelling 144 km/h along the Patricia Bay Highway – an area where the speed limit was 80 km/hr.
The driver was issued a $483 speeding ticket and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Police added that the incident occurred when the roads were quite wet from fresh rain.
