The Victoria Police Department (VicPD) has arrested one man following a stabbing incident on Sunday that resulted in “life-threatening injuries” for the victim.

In a police report issued on Monday, VicPD said that the incident took place at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6, in the 100-block of Gorge Road East.

When officers arrived on the scene in response to an incident report, they found a man who had been stabbed and was suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries.

Police said that two other victims in the area had been bear sprayed and were suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

After the victim who was stabbed was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services, VicPD said that on-scene officers gathered information and learned that the suspect had fled to a nearby multi-unit temporary housing facility in the 100-block of Gorge Road East.

Victoria police said they were able to locate the man within a suite at the temporary housing facility and were able to arrest him without incident.

The suspect, who was transported to cells following the arrest, faces recommended charges of three counts of assault and one count of aggravated assault, according to the police report.

“The suspect was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a robbery and breach of probation charge,” reads a statement from VicPD.

Police say that the file remains under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is being asked to call Victoria Police’s non-emergency line at (250) 995-7654, extension 1.
