A British Columbia man is missing in Spain and police in Victoria are working with Spanish investigators to find him.

Victoria Police released a statement saying 67-year-old Scott Graham was last seen in Madrid after visiting the Canadian Embassy on July 15.

“He was supposed to be back in Canada July 29th. He of course has not returned. It’s our belief that he is still in Spain,” said VicPD Const. Cam MacIntyre.

“It’s important that we find him. Not only is he a missing person who has not had contact with his family and has not been seen but he also requires daily medication for his health.”

Victoria Police are now helping their counterparts in Spain and providing support to Graham’s family in Victoria.

On July 11, Graham was on a bus from the coastal city of Vigo and en route to San Sebastian where, at a rest stop, the bus left without him and took his bag with it.

That bag contained life-saving medication, including anti-rejection pills for a previous kidney transplant, along with Graham’s passport and phone.

“It’s a complicated file and it’s complicated for his family and it’s complicated for investigators,” added MacIntyre.

An active missing persons case is underway in Spain and VicPD are matching those efforts by issuing their own appeal, in both Spanish and English.

Investigators in Victoria say they have learned Graham may have visited a hospital on July 15 located on Madrid’s north side, but the outcome of the visit is unknown.

On the same day, he went to the Canadian Embassy in Madrid seeking a new passport. He was reportedly feeling unwell but agreed to return on Monday, July 18, to pick up his new passport but did not show up.

Anyone who has seen Graham in Spain is asked to report the sighting to Spanish police, while information about him outside Spain should be passed along to Victoria investigators.
