A Victoria horse carriage driver with Tally-Ho Carriage Tours was taken to hospital with minor injuries after they were thrown from their carriage on Friday evening.
The Victoria fire department says that around 7:45 p.m., the horse rode over a new bike lane, which spooked the horse, causing it to jump and tossing the carriage driver from their seat.
The driver suffered only minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution, according to the fire department.
Victoria police and firefighters shut down the area around Menzies and Superior streets to investigate and tend to both the driver and the horse.
The horse was checked by a vet, who bandaged a small cut on its leg, before the horse was taken home.
