Nanaimo Christmas Day burglar sentenced to 240 days in jail

A man who broke into a Nanaimo home early Christmas morning and took several wrapped gifts was sentenced to 240 days in jail on Tuesday.

At around 3 a.m. on Dec. 25, 2018, a man broke into a home on Stonewater Drive while a family of four slept upstairs. Some of the items taken included two iPhone Xs, Xbox games, clothing and gift cards. Investigators determined two suspects had entered the home through an unlocked kitchen window

Justin Redmond Feusse, 20, pleaded guilty to break-and-enter in that burglary. He also pleaded guilty to two other break-and-enters, possess/use of stolen credit card and assault.

He received one day for a break-and-enter on Jan, 10, 2017, 21 days for an assault on the Nov. 25, 2018, and 240 Days for the Christmas Day theft, to be served concurrently. He received credit for time served for a break-and-enter on Sept. 4, 2018. He was also ordered to pay $3,230.45 in restitution to the family on Stonewater Drive and will have an 18-month probation order.

Twenty-year-old Axel Wolfgang Lambert, from Nanaimo, was also arrested in connection with the break-in and robbery. His next court appearance is set for June 4, 2019.
