A Victoria father and daughter have produced a one-minute pitch for a documentary they hope to make about her extremely rare and life-threatening condition.

“Imagine being told your child has a  degenerative disease so rare that here are less than 200 known cases in the world , and there’s no cure, there’s not even an effective treatment” says Troy Townsin at the beginning of the short video.

His six-year-old daughter Lexi suffers from Blau Syndrome, a painful condition that combines arthritis, sarcoidosis and uveitis.

So, they pitched a documentary film entitled Me, my Dad and Blau to the STORYHIVE competition about how the community of Victoria is coming together to raise awareness of this condition as they search for a cure.

Their one-minute video pitch has now been listed as a STORYHIVE finalist.

Public voting on which documentaries will receive $50,000 to make a documentary begins at noon on Tuesday and runs through Friday.

“The first steps to finding a cure are raising awareness of the disease itself and then locating more patients,” said Townsin.
