Police say a fishing line was found at a dock near Regatta Landing on Aug. 26, 2020.

Victoria police say they are warning the public after a fishing line was located running across a dock ramp near Regatta Landing Wednesday.

Police said at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, they received a report of semi-transparent fishing line set across a dock, just off the Galloping Goose Trail, near Regatta Landing.

A group was walking in the area when they observed the fishing line, police said.

The line was approximately two inches (five centimetres) off the ground, ran across the dock ramp, and was secured to the handrails on either side. No one was injured, and the group dismantled the line.

Police said the incident comes after fishing lines were discovered along a staircase at a park in Victoria’s Burnside neighbourhood, in Cecelia Ravine Park.  According to police, another line was also located in Cecelia Ravine Park, near the entrance to the Galloping Goose Trail.
