Port Alberni RCMP are looking for suspects after an act of vandalism left a big mess at the West Coast Home Hardware on Sunday night.

They say that sometime between 10 p.m. and midnight, more than 100 bags of potting soil placed on pallets were cut or torn open and the contents emptied.

Dirt was found across the length of the exterior of the store at 3550 Johnston Road, as well as on the sidewalks and the nearby parking area.

RCMP say a group of youth was seen in the area on their scooters prior to the incident and may have seen what happened.

They’re asking members of that group to contact officers to let them know what they may have witnessed.

If you can help, contact Cst. Wasylien of the Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
