A well-known park in Sooke is about to get upgraded.

The District of Sooke says work is set to begin this month on parking upgrades for John Phillips Memorial Park, which is located near district hall on Otter Point Road.

Once completed, the upgrades will result in 36 parking stalls, accessible parking stalls, two electric vehicle charging stations as well as bike parking. Electrical connections for community events will also be installed and 20 new trees will be planted, along with ornamental landscaping.

Furthermore, a new trial will also be constructed north of the parking lot.

The upgrades are being funded by RGF Developments as part of their community amenity contribution for their development at 2197 Otter Point Rd.

The district says the upgrades should be completed by the fall.
