Two subcontractors sent to hospital after explosive detonator incident at CFB Esquimalt

Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after an incident involving an explosive detonator on a civilian vessel at CFB Esquimalt on Friday.

Military base spokeswoman Katelyn Moores said at 11:46 a.m., there was an accident involving an explosives detonator on a civilian vessel working on a construction project in Esquimalt Harbour.

Two subcontractors sustained minor injuries and are being treated in hospital.

Moores said the cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.
