Two incidents lead to significant police presence on Gorge Road East

On Monday, Victoria Police officers were investigating a report of an assault with a weapon, and a firearms investigation on Gorge Road East.

The two separate incidents occurred in the same multi-unit residential facility on the 200-block of Gorge Road East.

Initially, officers were called to respond shortly after 2:30 a.m. for a report of an assault with a weapon. The victim went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers identified the other person involved and located him at the scene of the incident. He was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both parties were arrested and released pending further investigation.

Officers remained on scene through the day conducting an investigation.

At the same time, VicPD and Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team officers were conducting a firearms investigation at another unit in the housing complex.

Officers were on scene for most of the day executing a search warrant.
