Victoria Police says a man and woman face drug trafficking charges following a more than month-long investigation with ties to organized crime on the lower mainland.

The VicPD Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) focused their investigation on a Victoria-area drug line police believe was set up by the lower mainland gang “The Brothers Keepers”.

Police say CRU officers and Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) members executed a search warrant May 15 in the 200-block of Battleford Avenue in Saanich and arrested the two suspects.

Fentanyl and cocaine was located by officers, along with nearly $15,000 cash and two vehicles which are being recommended for civil forfeiture.

The suspects were both released.

VicPD says CRU officers also disrupted the group April 5 when they arrested a woman believed to be connected to the gang.
