BC Ferries says a mechanical issue that led to cancellations on the Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay route has been resolved.

The 10 a.m. sailing leaving Tsawwassen got underway as scheduled and the remaining sailings should proceed as planned.

The vessel was supposed to leave at 6 a.m. but ended up holding in dock due to the mechanical issue. The company said the issue was with the starboard rudder, but say it was repaired.

Shortly after 7 a.m., BC Ferries updated its website to say that the 6 a.m. leaving Tsawwassen and the 8 a.m. leaving Swartz Bay were cancelled as a result.

The company says the issue is with the starboard rudder.

“If you have a booking on one of these cancelled sailings, your reservation will be honoured on a first arrive first load basis at the terminal,” BC Ferries says in a notice on its website.

CHEK News has reached out to BC Ferries for more information and will update when a response is received.
