Trudeau sits out 6th day of campaign, Singh says he's 'missing in action' on housing

TORONTO — NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh accused Justin Trudeau of being missing in action on housing issues as the Liberal leader decided to take a day off from campaigning today.

Singh was in Toronto where he promised a supplement of up to $5,000 for those struggling to pay rent and a crackdown on so-called “renovictions.”

Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole has campaign stops scheduled today in Edmonton and Delta, British Columbia.

The Liberal Party’s itinerary for Trudeau has no planned events.

When asked about that, Singh said he’s not sure why Trudeau chose not to campaign, but said the Liberal Leader has been “missing in action” on many issues, including a lack of affordable housing in the country.

Singh has been critical of Trudeau’s decision to call the election last Sunday and send voters to the polls on Sept. 20, at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is entering a fourth wave.
