Three vehicles damaged in suspected arson in View Royal

Three vehicles were damaged in an alleged arson in View Royal on Jan. 3, 2023.

One vehicle was set on fire and two beside it were damaged in what West Shore RCMP is calling a case of arson.

RCMP were called to a vehicle fire in a parking lot at 1445 Craigflower Rd. on Jan. 3 around 6:40 a.m.

Responding officers found a white 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 engulfed by flames as the two vehicles next to it, a yellow 2006 Dodge Ram and a grey 2013 grey Hyundai Accent, sustained damage.

View Royal Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Investigators are now searching for a male suspect seen near the vehicles before the arson occurred. He’s described as a man of unknown age wearing a black hoodie, black jacket and a black face mask.

“Thankfully no one was injured, however 3 vehicles were significantly damaged by this arson,” Cpl. Nancy Saggar, the media relations officer for West Shore RCMP, said in a news release.

“Investigators have canvassed the area and spoken to many residents living nearby however, we are asking anyone who has information regarding this crime to come forward and speak to police.”
