Three people were arrested Tuesday after a month-long drug trafficking investigation in Central Saanich and other areas of Greater Victoria.

One man was arrested after his vehicle was stopped on the Trans-Canada Highway at Koksilah Road in the Cowichan Valley.

A second man was arrested during a traffic stop on the Trans-Canada Highway near Admirals Road. The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team assisted with that arrest.

Police later executed a search warrant at a home on Benvenuto Avenue in Central Saanich. One woman was arrested at the home and cash and cocaine was seized.

Police are recommending charges for the three people arrested including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

“The abuse of dangerous drugs is a community issue in Central Saanich, and to stop the harm we need to work closely with the community,” Central Saanich Police Chief Les Sylven said in a statement.

“In addition to enforcing the law like our officers did earlier this week; we will also host a public forum in May to bring together community partners to talk about what we can all do to keep
Central Saanich safe from the crisis that has impacted other jurisdictions across B.C.”

Central Saanich police said they worked closely with North Saanich/Sidney RCMP during the month-long investigation.
