The Royal BC Museum’s spectacular new exhibition Orcas: Our Shared Future is now open.

“This is our biggest, most ambitious touring exhibition that the Museum has undertaken in decades,” says Michael Barnes, head of exhibitions at the museum. “It’s ten thousand square feet. It features ten film presentations, more than seven different interactives and hands-on learning opportunities, over 100 artifacts, and some really spectacular specimens and artworks.”

Five years in the making, detailed planning went into the creation of this fantastic, and fascinating, exhibition.

“It’s going to be our most accessible exhibition ever. We’ve had great success with forays into Braille before, so with this exhibition, we’ve gone full out, and all the main exhibition panels are going to be available in braille, and all the multi-media presentations will be close-captioned as well,” says Barnes.

Veronica Cooper takes you inside the exhibition on this episode of This Week in History, which is at the museum until Jan. 9, 2022.

This Week in History is sponsored by the Royal BC Museum.
