TD Bank is closing most Vancouver Island locations Friday afternoon due to severe weather conditions in the forecast.

Affected branches on the Island are already closed, while those on the Lower Mainland and in the Fraser Valley and Okanagan will close at 2 p.m. to protect the safety of both customers and staff, TD said in a statement.

Its downtown Victoria city centre branch at 1080 Douglas St., meanwhile, is the only Island location open but will close at 2 p.m.

“Customers who have in-branch appointments that are impacted by these operational changes will be offered the option to meet virtually, where possible,” according to TD Bank.

“We continue to closely monitor this situation and will advise customers if there are any further impacts. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank customers for their patience and understanding.”

The bank, with more than 1,100 branches across Canada, says customers can still access its services online via EasyWeb and the TD app, or by calling the EasyLine team.

Operating hours at branches on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., but could be adjusted due to weather impacts, if necessary, the company said.
