A two-kilometre stretch of road in Saanich will be fully closed for more than a week as crews conduct important maintenance work, according to the District of Saanich.

Cordova Bay Road in PKOLS, formerly known as Mount Douglas Park, will be closed between Blenkinsop and Ash roads 24 hours a day from March 27 to April 6, the district says in an advisory.

“Local traffic will be allowed from Blenkinsop Road to the North boundary of the park and from Ash Road and Cedar Hill Road to the park parking lot,” it said Wednesday.

BC Transit buses will not run through the park, meaning bus stops will be relocated. Transit goers should check with BC Transit for route changes and updates, the district says.

Meanwhile, cyclists and pedestrians will still be able to travel through PKOLS via Cordova Bay Road while work is underway, but the district is urging them to use caution.

Farther up Cordova Bay Road, crews are undertaking an active transportation project between Rambler and Walema roads. The project, to be completed this fall, aims to improve pedestrian and cycling infrastructure as highlighted in Saanich’s Active Transportation Plan.

The district lists current construction projects online here.
