After taking two years off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Capital City Comic Con will return to Victoria this September with a new crop of guests including Denise Crosby, who played Lt. Tasha Yar in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The comic book and sci-fi convention will take place from Sept. 23-25 at the Victoria Conference Centre and Crystal Garden, bringing guests, exhibitors, cosplay and celebrity Q&As.

In addition to Crosby, who has also had roles in The X-Files, Lois and Clark: The Adventures of Superman and Mad Men, guests announced Thursday include “master-level cosplayer” MeltingMirror and artist and comic book creator Julien Pilon.

“It is great to see Capital City Comic Con and other events at the Victoria Conference Centre again. This is the first Capital City Comic Con since 2019 and it will be great to see enthusiastic cosplayers and many other attendees,” said Destination Greater Victoria CEO Paul Nursey.

Candice Woodward, the owner of event partner Cherry Bomb Toys, which also houses the National Toy Museum of Canada, says more guests will eventually be announced.

“It’s been a rollercoaster over the last few years, and we really miss our comic con community. We can’t wait to see everyone’s cosplay, visit with amazing artists and exhibitors, and meet some great guests,” she said.

One-day ticket prices start at $10.50 for children 12 and under while adult tickets are set at $26.25 for Friday, $36.75 for Saturday and $31.50 for Sunday. A three-day pass costs $103.95.

Event organizers say the annual convention brings in nearly 10,000 pop culture fans every year, wearing costumes and taking part in panels, workshops and games.
