Stabbing at Saanich house party sends one to hospital

An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries following a stabbing at a house party in Saanich late Saturday night.

At around 11:45 p.m. on Dec. 2, Saanich police were called to a home on Francisco Terrace after receiving a report that a 18-year-old man had been stabbed.

The man, who is from Saanich, was taken to hospital. Police said he is expected to make a full recovery.

With help from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, the suspect was later arrested on Dec. 7 in Victoria. When the suspect was arrested, he allegedly has substances that were believed to be controlled drugs.

Cory Nguyen, 27, is in custody and facing charges of assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon. Police said Nguyen is from Greater Victoria and is known to them. He could also face drug charges once the substances are examined at a lab.
