Sooke Road fully re-opened just before 11 p.m. Friday, but It was a night to forget for many motorists stuck for hours following a serious crash involving three vehicles.

A stretch of Highway 14 approximately 4 kilometers west of Gillespie Road was completely shut for several hours following the crash at 2:15 p.m.
It re-opened to single-lane alternating traffic around 5 p.m., but motorists continued to report being stuck in traffic backed up for several kilometers.

Robin Ballantyne delayed leaving but had still spent four hours trying to get from Victoria to the Sooke Prestige Hotel where she’s getting married on Saturday.
“Spending the night before my wedding stuck on hw14” she wrote on Twitter.
Around 8:45 p.m., Trish Fougner wrote “we have been on Sooke Road since 5:15 p.m. and (we’re) still 6 km from Sooke. Horrible!”
Drive BC continues to warn of congestion and delays.
But some have gone the extra mile to help those caught up in the traffic chaos.
Terrie Moore was aboard the 61 bus to Sooke and wanted to thank the bus driver Brian, “He’s keeping our spirits up while we wait.”
Holy Page wanted to thank the Crockford family for delivering snacks to stranded drivers
“This is what small town living is all about,” replied one Twitter user.
