WATCH: Last night, Luisa Alvarez went out to see how the community of Sooke came together to fulfill to bring some Christmas cheer right to one man’s doorstep.

Although not quite December, Laura’s Lane in Sooke got Christmas started a little bit earlier this year.

Neighbors and strangers alike all gathered to sing carols and bring some Christmas magic to Bob, a Sooke resident who’s been dealing with some health issues of late.

“He wasn’t doing so well a month ago and we wanted to start things early,” says Bob’s wife Marlene.

That’s why after a post on the Facebook group “Sooke Embrace” the community rallied to give him a  holiday surprise.

For the unsuspecting couple, what started out as a regular evening watching the Grey Cup turned into a night filled with Christmas cheer.

” We’ve only been here a year and a half and for people to turn out like that.. to know that they cared for Bob it really is wonderful.”

Holding back tears Bob too had a message for those who participated.

” Thank you very much for organizing it and for coming by, that’s very good brings tears to my eyes it’s all part of the Christmas spirit I think too,” said Bob

Just like that Christmas came early on Laura’s Lane.
