WATCH: A low-pressure system over the south coast has resulted in moderate to heavy snow over east Vancouver Island this afternoon.
Across east Vancouver Island, from Duncan all the way north to Campbell River, total amounts from five to more than centimetres are expected before the snow tapers off late this evening.
Northern sections of Vancouver Island can expect rain mixed with wet snow overnight, while the west coast will receive rain, ending before morning.
Southern Vancouver Island will see rain this evening, with wet snow at higher elevations.
Precipitation will ease tomorrow as high pressure begins to build over the region.
Expect partly cloudy skies Saturday, and clearing Sunday with mainly sunny skies, but cold days with highs varying across the Island from 0 to 4 degrees.
