A smoky skies bulletin issued for all regions of Vancouver Island yesterday has ended.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, in collaboration with Island Health, lifted the bulletin Friday morning due to reduced smoke concentrations.

The bulletin was sent out Thursday afternoon as wildfire smoke, particularly from the central and northern Interior, created hazy skies across the island.

As of Friday morning, 485 wildfires are burning in B.C. The B.C. government has lifted the provincial state of emergency due to cooler weather and progress by fire crews.
