Starting January 22, BC Ferries will be a smoke-free environment in all locations including terminals and vessels.
The company reminded customers of the upcoming changes Wednesday morning which applies to tobacco and other substances including e-cigarettes.
The policy includes the interior of all vehicles on BC Ferries’ property.
BC Ferries first advised passengers of the changes in August.
“This new policy supports the health and wellness of our customers and our employees by
reducing exposure to second-hand smoke,” BC Ferries’ President and CEO Mark Collins said in a release.
“The policy aligns with other transportation services and ensures everyone using our services can breathe smoke-free air.”
Regular announcements and signage on board the vessels and at terminals will be in place to remind customers of the new policy.
