Colquitz Middle School and Northridge Elementary School have experienced exposures to COVID-19.

Coronavirus exposures have been reported at two school in Saanich.

Greater Victoria School District (SD61) announced on social media that Colquitz Middle School and Northridge Elementary School have experienced exposure to COVID-19.

Colquitz Middle School — located on Dumeresq Street — experienced an exposure on April 19.

Northridge Elementary School — located on Carey Road — also experienced an exposure on April 19.

“If an individual may have been exposed, Island Health will contact them directly. Notification letters have been sent to the school community,” the district said in a tweet.

Island Health has not added the school to their exposure list as of Saturday afternoon.

An exposure is defined by Island Health as a single person with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection who attended school during their infectious period.

Island Health says if a parent or guardian sees a notification on its school exposure site, it does not necessarily mean their child has been exposed to COVID-19.

If a parent or guardian does not receive a phone call or letter from public health, a child can continue to attend school, according to the health authority.
