Saanich Police are seeking public help in finding a suspect involved in two possibly linked sexual assault cases.

Police issued a press release on Friday that outlined two different incidents occurring within two days of each other.

The first report took place on February 27 around 9:30 pm when police said a girl was approached by a man on a BC Transit bus who engaged her in conversation. According to Saanich PD, the man followed the girl when she left the bus and started to make unwanted sexual advancements towards her, including touching. The report suggests that the girl was not physically injured during the assault and she has been offered resources to help her in the meantime.

The second report came in on Wednesday and referred to an incident on February 26 at around 10:00 pm. In a similar description of events, the suspect engaged the girl in conversation and followed her off the bus. He then proceeded to make unwanted sexual touching.

Investigators said they have reason to believe the two reports are linked by the same sexual assault suspect and have released a photo and description of the male in question.

The man is described as approximately 30 years old, dark complexion, 5’7”, black hair and clean-shaven with a prominent bald spot on the back of his head. He was wearing ‘skinny’ jeans at the time of the assualt on Feb. 27. The man is said to have spoke with an accent and it is authorities believe that English was not his first language.

“As we continue to investigate this file to identify the suspect, we would like to remind the public to be alert and aware of your surroundings, walk with a partner if possible, and always carry a charged cell phone,” said Cst. Markus Anastasiades, Public Information and Communications Officer with Saanich Police.
