Another officer injured during a shooting at a bank in Saanich in June has been released.

Saanich Police Department said in a media release that one of their officers was released from Royal Jubilee Hospital on Friday (Aug. 5).

“Today is very special, heartwarming, and inspirational as one of our injured officers is returning home where he can continue to heal and build his strength while being surrounded by his loving family,” Saanich PD Chief Constable Dean Duthie said in a statement.

The officer, whose name was not released, was one of three members of the Saanich Police who were hospitalized following a shootout in front of the Bank of Montreal on Shelbourne Street back in June.

Twin brothers Mathew and Isaac Auchterlonie from Duncan were shot and killed by officers.

Of the three Saanich Police officers who were hospitalized for a period of time, one was released shortly after the shooting while another remains in hospital.
