34-year-old Justin Dorey was arrested Sunday on charges of Arson.

Saanich Police say they have arrested a man in connection with a string of suspicious fires throughout December.

Saanich PD first announced they were investigating the fires on Dec. 12 in a release that indicated the fires caused “minor property damage.”

In a statement released on Tuesday, Saanich PD says that they investigated five fires from Dec. 6 to Dec. 20, including one at a dumpster in an underground parkade on Cedar Hill X Road and another inside a residential building on Cloverdale Avenue.

Saanich Police say they arrested 34-year-old Justin Dorey on Sunday on charges related to Arson.

“There have been no further fires reported in Saanich since December 20,” said Cst. Markus Anastasiades. “While the motive for these fires is not clear at this time, we are
very pleased to have this person in custody, as the randomness and frequency of these fires was very concerning to investigators.”
