A person in Saanich has been hit with a fine for refusing to wear a mask in not one, but two stores.
Saanich Police said on social media Wednesday that the incident took place yesterday and that the individual was “belligerent” with business staff and officers.
The individual was issued two $230 tickets, one for failing to wear a mask and one for belligerent behaviour, under the province’s Emergency Programs Act for organizing or hosting a non-compliant event.
Saanich Police did not disclose where the incident took place.
The Emergency Programs Act came into effect Jan. 8, replacing the COVID-19 Related Measures Act.
Tickets were issued yesterday to a person who refused to wear a mask inside two stores in #Saanich. They were belligerent with staff and officers when they attended to investigate.
