The body of a 28-year-old man who had been reported missing was located Tuesday by Saanich police divers at Elk Lake.
Markus Anastasiades, public information and communications officer with Saanich police, said police recovered Tim Elliot just off the dock where he was last seen just before 12 p.m. Tuesday. Next of kin have been notified.
Saanich police and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the death, but police said it appears to be a tragic accident.
“All indications appear at this point to be a tragedy,” Anastasiades said.
“Certainly our heartfelt condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Elliott.”

Elliot was last seen in the Elk Lake area around 10 p.m. on Sept. 12, police confirmed.
The search for Elliot began on Monday evening, but was paused by police due to loss of light. Efforts then resumed again on Tuesday morning. The Penninsula Emergency Measures Organization (PEMO) Search and Rescue also took part in the search.
