The Saanich Police Department has arrested one man connected to a “string of indecent acts” committed in Greater Victoria over the past two months.

According to a police report, the indecent acts occurred in a range of places including Saanich, Victoria, Oak Bay and the West Shore.

In total, Saanich Police say the man has been linked to eleven incidents.

Police say the first of the incidents occurred in Saanich toward the end of October, however, the details of each act are similar.

In the report, it says that in each case, a vehicle driven by a man approached or waved down his victims, exposed himself, was masturbating and then drove away.

All the victims were female, Saanich Police say, and were either walking or running in the area prior to being approached.

Similar reports were made in mid and late November in Saanich and Oak Bay, followed by several more reports at the beginning of December, including incidents reported in Victoria and Langford.

On Dec. 10, detectives with the Saanich Police Department Major Crime Unit arrested a man from Metchosin that they believed was connected to the indecent acts.

Since the arrest, no further incidents of this nature have been reported, notes Saanich PD.

The arrested man has since been released with a court date set for early next year.

“This is a disturbing series of events that appear to be connected, however, the investigation is still very active and it is too early to confirm that this suspect identified is responsible for all of these indecent acts. Anyone that may have been a witness to these incidents or that was directly approached by someone in a similar manner is asked to please contact their local police agency.”

Detectives are continuing to investigate these incidents.
