A daycare in Saanich has closed its doors temporarily after multiple cases of COVID-19 were identified.

Cloverdale Childcare recently sent an e-mail to parents informing them that the daycare would be closed beginning on Jan. 4 after four individuals — two employees and two children — tested positive for COVID-19.

Cindy Fuailefau, the daycare’s manager, confirmed to CHEK News that there were indeed exposures and that the facility is closed.

“Yes, there were exposures and we are working with Island Health,” she said. “We have closed down for a week.”

Fuailefau explained that the plan was to reopen yesterday, following a deep clean of the facility, but opted to remain closed for the rest of the week.

“After talking to Island Health, we decided to close for the week to make sure everyone who needed to was tested . . . once the testing results are in, we will reopen.”

“It’s a changing situation,” she added.

Fuailefau declined to comment further citing privacy reasons.
