Overnight fire on Tuxedo Dr in Saanich
Saanich fire crews responded to reports of smoke coming from a home on Tuxedo Drive early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters had to force their way into the single-family residence upon arriving around 1:30 a.m.
They found a small fire in a room where renovation work was being carried out.
The home’s occupants including children were located in the basement and brought outside where they were assessed by paramedics.
Assistant Deputy Chief Robert Heppell says there were no injuries.
He says the fire was likely sparked by materials being used in the renovation work.
There was some minor damage to the floor that was being refinished and some smoke damage to the home.
