Billions of dollars of dirty money has been washed clean through the province’s casinos over the last few years.

In fact, money laundering in British Columbia reached “staggering” levels due to inadequate efforts by police, politicians and regulators to curtail the crime, largely because regulators failed to act, police failed to investigate and politicians failed to respond.

That’s the conclusion of a three-year public inquiry into money laundering in British Columbia, released today by commissioner Austin Cullen.
