The B.C. governing New Democratic Party says it has broken a new fundraising record, as it solidifies its dominant financial lead over other parties heading into the fall election.

The NDP said Tuesday it had raised more than $2.2 million in the second quarter of 2024 — a new record for the party outside of an actual election campaign.

“We saw a lot of donations from small donors this time around,” said Marie Della Mattia, the NDP’s election campaign director.

“We increased our donor base. And I think that’s a signal that a lot of people are seeing David Eby as someone who’s looking out for them, who’s trying to tackle the tough problems that people are facing.”

Watch the report below:

The BC Greens say they raised more than $330,000 in that quarter.

The BC Conservatives did not have official numbers prepared yet, but they are believed to have raised more than $1 million — a huge jump for a party that just last year raised only $50,000 in a single quarter.

BC United is believed to have raised below $1 million, but also did not have immediate figures available Tuesday.
