Road to Recovery: The seaweed industry: emerging market, climate solution, pandemic recovery driver

CHEK

On this week’s segment of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Hannah Lepine chats with Mike Williamson, the president and CEO of Cascadia Seaweed.

British Columbia’s seaweed industry has experienced a surge in demand over the past few years, identified as an emerging market in the province’s blue economy, with the potential for exponential growth.

On Vancouver Island, Cascadia Seaweed was founded in mid-2019 and is growing to be the largest North American provider of ocean cultivated seaweed.

The corporation believes in building a profitable and scalable business that enhances the natural environment and provides economic opportunity for Indigenous and coastal communities.

In the episode, Williamson discusses the industry, how they’re helping B.C. along the road to recovery and how they’re helping solving climate change challenges.

Road to Recovery is done in partnership with Douglas Magazine.
