Road to Recovery: The culture of happy work

CHEK

In this week’s segment of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Hannah Lepine chats with  Mandy Farmer, president and CEO of Accent Inns.

Mandy Farmer has been in her role since May of 1998, and her unique style and vision have created a whole different kind of hotel experience.

Farmer spent nearly a decade convincing Accent Inns’ board that Hotel Zed would be a success, and it proves she was right.

Hotel Zed, Accent Inns’ cousin chain, is known for its funky and colourful design. There are five in British Columbia, two of which are on the Island, in Victoria and Tofino.

Farmer, from the capitol, got her start in the industry at the Empress Hotel in 1992. She earned a psychology degree at McGill University and an MBA in executive management from Royal Roads University.

In this segment, Farmer talks about how she prioritizes employee satisfaction and brings fun into the workplace.

Road to Recovery is produced in partnership with Douglas Magazine.
