Road to Recovery: Practical ways to implement inclusive staff and hiring policies

CHEK

In this week’s episode of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Jasmine Bala sits down with Lexi Mills, resourcing and talent acquisition expert at FreshWorks Studio.

FreshWorks Studio is a Victoria-based custom software development company that provides end-to-end services in strategy, design and creation of digital solutions, according to its website. The team specializes in UX/UI research and design, digital product strategy, innovation and prototyping, web and mobile app development, and technology integration.

Over the years, the team has completed 110 projects, has 81 team members from 18 different countries that speak 30 languages.

The key to the company’s rapid growth and success? Diversity and inclusion.

FreshWorks Studio was founded by two University of Victoria MBA grads, Samarth Mod and Rohit Boolchandani, who both immigrated to Canada in 2013.

“This is certainly a big part of why diversity has been baked into our culture,” the website reads.

The team has overhauled the traditional hiring process and have ingrained diversity and inclusion into their practices. Job postings were rewritten and recruitment and hiring practices were optimized.

Mills explains in this segment what that process has looked like for the company, why inclusive hiring practices are a priority at FreshWorks Studio, and offers advice to other businesses looking to do the same.

Road to Recovery is done in partnership with Douglas Magazine.
