Road to Recovery: Nanaimo Airport soars after pandemic

CHEK

In this week’s segment of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Hannah Lepine chats with Dave Devano, the president and CEO of the Nanaimo Airport Commission.

After setting a passenger volume record of 491,499 in 2019, the Nanaimo Airport, like others around the world, experienced a dramatic decrease in 2020. This is as the airport began its latest renovation in a 20-year master plan designed to increase its size and efficiency.

The renovations will also create businesses and investment opportunities at one of the country’s fastest-growing airports.

YCD is already seeing a recovery as Canada rebounds from the pandemic and travel restrictions. This is good news for travellers, business owners, and investors, but also for the regional economy.

In this episode, Devano talks further about the huge renovation project and what’s different about the traveller experience now, versus before the pandemic.

Road to Recovery is produced in partnership with Douglas Magazine.
