Road to Recovery: How social enterprise fits into climate change mitigation

CHEK

In this week’s episode of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Jasmine Bala sits down with Kristi Rivait, co-founder and director of partnerships and programs of Scale Collaborative.

Scale Collaborative, founded in 2014, supports leaders and organizations in using enterprising and impactful approached to strengthen communities and social economy, according to its website.

The team has worked with hundreds of organizations to help them become more independent, resilient and impactful, with a track record of entrepreneurial thinking and doing.

“We’ve done it all — just like many non-profit leaders,” the website reads.

Scale Collaborative convened the Social Enterprise Catalyst (seCatalyst), a network of organizations that aim to build a stronger social enterprise sector on Vancouver Island.

For seCatalyst, making a difference is the bottom line. A social enterprise is distinct from other types of businesses and organizations because its principal goal is to address a cultural, social or environmental need.

Rivait explains in this segment how social enterprise companies fit into mitigating climate change, why its important to do so, and what lessons there are to be learned.

Road to Recovery is done in partnership with Douglas Magazine.
